The HLC Heavy Duty Metal Kids Swing Set is a sturdy ground-mounted option designed for children aged 3 to 10. It features a metal frame with a 440 lb total weight capacity and includes two swing seats plus a glider. This setup works well for smaller yards where you need a durable, weather-resistant structure that fits a compact footprint.
However, you might prefer alternatives if your space is tighter or if you need more seating capacity. Some families seek wooden playsets for a natural look, while others require higher weight limits for older children. The alternatives in this list were chosen because their specifications overlap with the HLC model. You will find options with different dimensions, materials like cedar, and varied feature sets to match your specific yard size and play needs.
Our top pick: HLC Metal Swing Set with Glider.
How each alternative compares
KDYMOD 2-in-1 Metal Swing Set
The KDYMOD 2-in-1 Metal Swing Set is significantly more compact than the HLC model, measuring 57 inches wide by 99 inches long. This makes it a practical choice for small yards where space is limited. It shares the same metal construction and age range of 3 to 10 years. However, it offers only two swing seats without the glider attachment found on the HLC set. The pink color provides a different aesthetic. You should pick this if your primary need is a sturdy, dual-seat option for tighter spaces rather than the wider footprint and extra glider feature of the HLC.
ROBOTIME Wooden Playset with Swings and Slide
The ROBOTIME Wooden Playset switches from metal to wood, offering a natural look that some families prefer. It is slightly wider at 111 inches but much longer at 134 inches, providing a different footprint. The weight capacity is lower at 150 lbs total, which is a significant reduction from the HLC’s 440 lbs. It includes a slide in addition to swings. This set is heavier at 163 pounds. Choose this if you want a wooden structure with a slide and do not need the high weight capacity or metal durability of the HLC, especially for younger children.
SuniBoxi Solid Fir Wood 10-in-1 Playset
The SuniBoxi Solid Fir Wood 10-in-1 Playset is a large, multi-feature wooden option for spacious yards. It measures 193 inches wide and 173 inches long, far exceeding the HLC’s dimensions. It weighs 290 pounds, making it a substantial installation. While it offers diverse climbing activities and covered play areas, it lacks the specific glider attachment of the HLC. The material is wood rather than metal. Pick this if you have a large yard and want a comprehensive playset with varied activities for several children, rather than the simpler, ground-mounted metal frame of the HLC.
Honey JOY 3-Seat Metal A-Frame Swing Set
The Honey JOY 3-Seat Metal A-Frame Swing Set offers a higher weight capacity, supporting 660 lbs total compared to the HLC’s 440 lbs. It is wider at 138 inches but slightly shorter in height. It includes three seats, providing more simultaneous play options. The yellow and blue color scheme is similar to the HLC. It is heavier at 64 pounds. Choose this if you need a metal frame with greater capacity and an extra swing seat for growing families, rather than the glider feature found on the HLC model.
Backyard Discovery Durango Cedar A-Frame Swing Set
The Backyard Discovery Durango Cedar Swing Set is made of cedar wood, offering a traditional look distinct from the metal HLC. It is narrower at 97.2 inches wide but longer at 109 inches. It includes a 5-year warranty, a detail not mentioned for the HLC. The weight capacity is not specified in the data, but the material suggests a different durability profile. It features two swings without a glider. Select this if you prioritize natural materials and a warranty over the metal construction and glider attachment of the HLC, especially for smaller yards.
Backyard Discovery Endeavor Cedar Swing Set
The Backyard Discovery Endeavor Cedar Swing Set is a large wooden playset with a slide and climbing walls. It measures 137 inches wide and 242 inches long, requiring ample space. It weighs 550 pounds, significantly more than the HLC. The material is cedar, differing from the metal frame. It includes a slide, which the HLC lacks. The age range is 3 to 10 years. Choose this if you have a large yard and want a feature-rich wooden set with climbing elements, rather than the simpler, ground-mounted metal swing set with a glider offered by the HLC.
