Montpelier vs Canyon Creek Specs
Overall footprint
The Montpelier measures 186 inches wide and 193 inches long, while the Canyon Creek is slightly smaller at 183 inches wide and 188 inches long. Both units stand over nine feet tall, with the Montpelier at 112 inches high and the Canyon Creek reaching 119 inches. You should measure your available yard space carefully. The Canyon Creek takes up less ground area, which may fit tighter backyards. The Montpelier offers a wider base, potentially providing more stability or room for adjacent play zones. Consider your property dimensions before deciding between these two large cedar structures.
Swing configuration
The Montpelier includes two classic belt swings and one trapeze bar. This setup allows for varied swinging styles, including hanging or sitting on the trapeze. The Canyon Creek features two belt swings and one web disc swing. The web disc offers a different sensation, allowing multiple children to sit together or hang on. If you prefer traditional swinging with an added aerial challenge, the Montpelier trapeze is ideal. If you want a group-friendly swinging option, the Canyon Creek web disc provides a unique alternative. Both sets ensure multiple kids can swing simultaneously without waiting.
Lower play features
The Montpelier includes a shaded sandbox area for sensory play and a built-in snack bar window with picnic bench seating. This encourages imaginative play and socializing over snacks. The Canyon Creek features a play kitchen with a toy BBQ grill, sink, and play food, along with a shaded picnic table. The Canyon Creek option focuses more on role-playing and cooking scenarios. The Montpelier focuses on eating and sandbox creativity. Choose the Montpelier if your children love digging and eating pretend snacks. Choose the Canyon Creek if they prefer running a restaurant or cooking show.
Climbing and strength
The Montpelier features a standard monkey bar set that promotes upper body strength as children swing and climb across. The Canyon Creek includes a rock climbing wall with twelve holds and a rope assist. This wall offers a vertical climbing challenge that builds different muscle groups. The Canyon Creek also includes a toy telescope and steering wheel in the clubhouse, adding to the interactive experience. The Montpelier relies on the monkey bars for physical exertion. The Canyon Creek offers more varied physical challenges with the rock wall. Climbers who enjoy vertical ascent will likely prefer the Canyon Creek.
Weight and stability
The Montpelier weighs 336 pounds when assembled. The Canyon Creek weighs 387 pounds. The Canyon Creek is significantly heavier by 51 pounds. This extra weight often contributes to greater stability during vigorous play. Heavier structures tend to wobble less when children are swinging or climbing. The Montpelier is still substantial but lighter than its counterpart. You may need to consider anchoring requirements for both, but the Canyon Creek’s mass provides a solid foundation. If structural rigidity is your top priority, the heavier Canyon Creek offers a slight advantage in staying put during active use.

Buyers prioritizing a larger footprint for space
The Montpelier measures 186 inches wide and 193 inches long, offering a larger ground coverage than the Canyon Creek. Its 186-inch width provides more lateral space for the sandbox and picnic area.
