6 Best Alternatives to the SoliWood 85''x78''x9'' Octagon Sandbox Cover (2026)

How these options compare

Best Choice Products 47-Inch Cedar Sandbox with Benches

The Best Choice Products Cedar Sandbox measures 47x47 inches with an 8.5-inch height. This compact square design fits small yards where the larger SoliWood octagon would not. It includes integrated bench seating similar to the original but sacrifices significant sand capacity and play area. You get sturdy cedar construction and a manageable footprint. If your priority is fitting a sandbox into a tight corner while keeping seating, this budget-friendly choice works. You give up the octagon shape and the ability to hold nearly 1,000 pounds of sand. It is best for small patios needing integrated bench seating.

Mederra 46.5" Cedar Sandbox with Canopy

The Mederra Cedar Sandbox measures 46.5x46.5 inches with a 46.5-inch height, featuring a canopy. This vertical structure offers shade protection that the SoliWood cover does not provide during use. It includes benches for seating, matching the original's social focus. However, the footprint is much smaller, limiting the number of children who can play inside simultaneously. You gain sun protection and a compact profile suitable for small patios. You lose the large horizontal play space and the specific octagon aesthetic. This option suits families with limited yard space who value shade over maximum sand volume.

Agitree 47" Wooden Sandbox with Canopy

The Agitree Wooden Sandbox measures 47x47 inches with a 46.5-inch height and includes a canopy. It provides practical shade and storage solutions, differing from the SoliWood's flat cover approach. The integrated benches offer seating, maintaining the social play aspect. The vertical design takes up less ground space than the large octagon, making it ideal for smaller patios. You get built-in shade and a compact footprint. You sacrifice the large open play area and the ability to hold substantial amounts of sand. This premium option is best for smaller patios needing shade and storage rather than expansive sand play areas.

Best Choice Products 52x45 Sandbox with Bench

The Best Choice Products 52x45 Sandbox features a water tank and sink for sensory play. It includes benches for seating, similar to the SoliWood model. The dimensions are 52x45 inches, offering a rectangular footprint that differs from the octagon shape. This unit focuses on interactive water play rather than just sand. You get unique sensory features and shade via its canopy. You give up the large octagon shape and the simple sand-only focus. The weight is 41 pounds. This alternative suits families wanting sensory play with water features in a compact size, prioritizing interactive elements over maximum sand volume.

Badger Basket 46.5" Cedar Sandbox with Benches

The Badger Basket Cedar Sandbox measures 46.5x46.5 inches with a 9.5-inch height. It is a square design with integrated bench seating, comparable to the SoliWood's social focus. The cedar material offers durability similar to the original wood frame. However, the square shape and smaller footprint limit the play area compared to the 85x78 inch octagon. You get a compact, space-efficient design with natural wood aesthetics. You lose the large capacity for sand and the unique octagon geometry. This option is ideal for small patios needing built-in seating. It suits parents who value space efficiency over the large sand volume provided by the SoliWood model.

AMZOSS 84x78 Octagon Wooden Sandbox

The AMZOSS Octagon Wooden Sandbox measures 84x78 inches with a 9-inch height, closely matching the SoliWood dimensions. It is made of fir wood and includes integrated benches. This alternative provides a nearly identical footprint and seating capacity for large families. You get a similar octagon shape and generous space for group play. The main difference lies in the specific wood type and construction details. You do not gain significant size advantages over the SoliWood, but you get a comparable large play area. This option is best for large families needing integrated bench seating and a durable octagon design for social backyard play.
