Who it fits
Good fit for
This set suits families with older children who need space for simultaneous play. The side-by-side swing design helps develop balance and coordination, while the sandbox and kitchen encourage imaginative social interaction. The included cover keeps sand dry, making it practical for shared family time. It is ideal for yards with ample space to accommodate its 165-inch width and 122-inch length, allowing for safe movement around the structure.
Who should skip it
You should look elsewhere if you have a small yard, as the 165-inch width and 122-inch length require significant clearance. The 105-inch height may be too tall for some safety preferences or low-ceilinged covered areas. Additionally, the play kitchen requires three AA batteries, which are not included, adding a minor ongoing need. If you prefer a simpler setup without multiple components like a slide, sandbox, and kitchen, this unit may offer more complexity than you need.
Verdict: The HOMMOW Cedar Wood Swing Set is a robust, feature-rich option for spacious backyards. Its cedar construction and multi-zone design make it a durable choice for active, imaginative play.
Key specs explained for this swing set
Material: Cedar wood
Cedar wood is a durable, weather-resistant material that resists rot and insects. This means the playset can withstand outdoor elements without requiring frequent chemical treatments. You benefit from a natural, sturdy structure that lasts longer than untreated pine. When shopping, compare this to metal or plastic sets, which may lack the same natural resilience or aesthetic warmth in a backyard setting.
Number of Swings: 2 belt swings
The set includes two belt swings, allowing side-by-side play for multiple children. Belt swings are generally safer and more comfortable than flat plastic seats, as they cradle the child and reduce the risk of falling off. This configuration encourages social interaction and shared fun. When comparing playsets, check if the swings are belt-style or rigid, as belt styles often offer better support and stability for younger kids.
Slide Type: Wave slide
A wave slide features a curved, undulating surface rather than a straight drop. This design slows descent slightly and adds a playful, dynamic sensation for users. It is suitable for children who enjoy a bit of variety in their sliding experience. When evaluating slides, consider that wave designs may offer a different speed profile compared to straight slides, which can be faster and more direct.
Assembled Dimensions: 165 in W x 122 in L x 105 in H
These dimensions indicate a large footprint requiring significant backyard space. The width of 165 inches and length of 122 inches mean you need a wide, open area for safe installation. The height of 105 inches suggests the structure is tall, requiring adequate overhead clearance. When planning, measure your yard carefully to ensure this substantial unit fits comfortably without obstructing other activities or views.

Things to check before buying
You need to prepare for the battery requirement. The built-in play kitchen needs three AA batteries, which are not included. You should keep spares on hand to keep that feature active. Space planning is critical. The assembled dimensions are 165 inches wide, 122 inches long, and 105 inches high. You must verify your yard can fit this footprint with adequate clearance for safe play. Maintenance involves treating the cedar wood to preserve its weather-resistant qualities. Regular inspections of the belt swings and wave slide ensure continued safety. This set stands out among the 1 options for its combination of active swinging and imaginative play zones like the sandbox and kitchen. It suits families wanting a comprehensive backyard hub rather than just a simple swing. Check your local regulations for height restrictions, as the 105-inch height may require permits in some areas. Ensure the ground surface is soft enough to cushion falls from the swings and slide.
Check before you buy
- Buy three AA batteries for the play kitchen.
- Measure your yard for the 165 by 122 inch footprint.
