Outing vs Chateau Playset Specs
Deck height and size
The Gorilla Playsets Outing Dual Slide Wood Swing Set features a play deck height of 4 feet, while the Chateau Tower Wooden Play Tower offers a slightly higher deck at 5 feet. The Outing set is larger overall, measuring 186 inches in length, 180 inches in width, and 114 inches in height. In contrast, the Chateau Tower is more compact with dimensions of 120 inches in length, 168 inches in width, and 132 inches in height. You should consider the available yard space and the preferred play height for your children when choosing between these two distinct layouts.
Slide configuration
Slide options differ significantly between these two models. The Outing Dual Slide Wood Swing Set includes two distinct slides: an alpine wave slide and a tunnel twister slide. This dual-slide setup provides more simultaneous play opportunities. The Chateau Tower Wooden Play Tower, however, includes only a single alpine wave slide. If your children prefer sharing a slide or you want to maximize the variety of sliding experiences in one unit, the Outing set is the better choice. The Chateau focuses on other climbing features instead.
Swing options
Swing availability is a key differentiator. The Outing Dual Slide Wood Swing Set comes equipped with two belt swings and a trapeze swing, offering three distinct swinging options for children. The Chateau Tower Wooden Play Tower does not include any swings in its standard configuration. Instead, it focuses on climbing walls and static play features. If you want immediate swing functionality without purchasing separate add-ons, the Outing set provides more value. The Chateau may require additional attachments for swinging activities.
Weight capacity
Structural load limits vary between the two units. The Chateau Tower Wooden Play Tower is built with solid 4-inch by 4-inch wood framing, allowing for a total weight capacity of 800 lbs. This robust construction supports heavier use or multiple children. The Outing Dual Slide Wood Swing Set does not list a specific weight capacity in the provided data. While it is designed for standard play, the Chateau explicitly states its higher load limit. For families with larger children or multiple users, the Chateau offers verified capacity data.
Included play features
Both sets include climbing walls and sandboxes, but the specific features differ. The Outing set includes a rock wall with a climbing rope, a safe entry ladder, a steering wheel, and a play telescope. The Chateau Tower also features a rock wall with 10 climbing rocks, a steering wheel, and a play telescope. However, the Chateau adds a tic-tac-toe panel to its list of included features. The Outing set includes a sandbox area, which is also present in the Chateau. Both provide diverse play options, though the Chateau includes the tic-tac-toe panel.
Target age range
Age recommendations help determine suitability. The Chateau Tower Wooden Play Tower is recommended for children aged 3 to 11 years. This wide range suggests versatility for growing kids. The Outing Dual Slide Wood Swing Set does not specify an age range in the provided data. You may need to infer suitability based on the 4-foot deck height and included features. The Chateau provides a clear guideline for age appropriateness, which can help you decide if it fits your child's current developmental stage compared to the Outing set.
Which Gorilla Playset fits your yard
Parents needing two slides and a sandbox
The Outing set includes both an alpine wave slide and a tunnel twister slide. It also features a built-in sandbox area. This dual-slide configuration offers more variety for children who enjoy different types of sliding experiences. The 4-foot deck height provides ample space underneath for play.
Families wanting higher climbing and stability
The Chateau Tower has a 5-foot deck height and a weight capacity of 800 lbs. It features a rock wall with ten climbing rocks and a climbing rope. The solid 4x4 wood framing supports older children up to age 11. The taller design encourages more challenging climbing skills.
Buyers with limited backyard space
The Chateau Tower measures 168 inches wide by 120 inches long. This footprint is narrower than the Outing set, which is 186 inches long. If your yard has restricted width or length, the Chateau Tower may fit more easily while still offering a slide and climbing wall.
Users preferring a compact dual-slide layout
The Outing set combines two slides into a 186-inch long structure. While it is longer than the Chateau, it packs more play features into its width. The inclusion of a trapeze swing, steering wheel, and telescope adds variety. This model suits yards where length is available but width is constrained.

Frequently asked questions
Which swing set is taller, the Outing or the Chateau?
The Chateau Tower is taller. It stands 132 inches high, while the Outing Dual Slide set reaches 114 inches. This difference affects the play deck height and the overall vertical presence in your yard. You should choose the Chateau if you prefer a higher climbing experience.
How do the widths of these two playsets compare?
The Outing set is wider. It measures 180 inches across, whereas the Chateau Tower is 168 inches wide. Both units require a substantial footprint for safe operation. You need to measure your available space carefully to ensure the wider Outing model fits without obstructing other yard areas.
Which model has a longer overall length?
The Outing set is longer. Its length is 186 inches, compared to the Chateau Tower’s 120 inches. This extra length accommodates the dual slide configuration and additional climbing features. If you have a long, narrow yard, the Outing’s dimensions might be a better fit for your layout.
Is one playset significantly heavier than the other?
Yes, the Chateau Tower is much heavier. It weighs 560 pounds, while the Outing set weighs 353 pounds. The Chateau’s extra weight may provide greater stability but makes assembly and positioning more difficult. You will need more help or equipment to move the heavier Chateau unit into place.
What color options are available for these Gorilla Playsets?

Which playset is better for a small yard?
The Chateau Tower is better for smaller spaces. It has a shorter length of 120 inches and a narrower width of 168 inches. The Outing set requires more room due to its 186-inch length and 180-inch width. If square footage is limited, the Chateau’s compact footprint is the practical choice.
Does the Outing set include dual slides?
Yes, the Outing set features dual slides. This configuration allows multiple children to play simultaneously on different slides. The Chateau Tower focuses on a single slide and climbing tower. If you want varied sliding experiences for older kids, the Outing’s dual setup offers more immediate play options.
