If you are comparing backyard discovery woodland cedar wood swing set alternatives, you likely want a similar cedar build but perhaps a different footprint or feature set. The original Woodland model offers a substantial 200-inch width and 136-inch height with a 10-foot wave slide and rock wall. Its 100% cedar construction provides natural decay resistance, and the included snack bar station adds practical social space for kids. However, its extra-large size may not fit every yard, and some buyers might prefer a lower height for younger children or a different layout entirely.
The 6 alternatives listed here were selected because their specifications overlap with the Woodland’s core attributes. All options use durable cedar wood, ensuring similar longevity and aesthetic appeal. They vary in dimensions, with some models offering more compact footprints for smaller spaces or extended lengths for additional play zones. Each alternative includes distinct features like saucer swings, raised clubhouses, or sandbox areas. By comparing these specs, you can identify a set that matches your specific yard dimensions and your children’s current play needs without sacrificing material quality.
Our top pick: Backyard Discovery Woodland Cedar Swing Set.
Comparing these cedar swing sets
Backyard Discovery Belmont Cedar Swing Set
The Belmont Cedar Swing Set differs significantly in footprint and layout. While the Woodland measures 200 inches wide, the Belmont is narrower at 87 inches but extends further in length at 211 inches. Both use cedar wood and include benches. The Belmont replaces the wave slide and rock wall with a shaded sandbox and snack bar station. You gain an organized play zone for younger children but lose the vertical climbing challenges and elevated clubhouse of the Woodland. This model suits families with narrower yards who prioritize ground-level imaginative play and sand activities over high-altitude adventure structures.
Backyard Discovery Tanglewood Cedar Swing Set
The Tanglewood Cedar Swing Set offers a more compact footprint than the Woodland. It measures 142 inches wide and 106 inches high, compared to the Woodland’s 200 inches and 136 inches. Both are Extra Large or Large cedar structures with similar durability. The Tanglewood provides extensive climbing features and a slide but lacks the specific 10-foot wave slide and the unique snack bar station found on the Woodland. It gives up some width and height for a denser play area. You should pick this alternative if your yard has limited width but you still want a robust cedar playset with varied climbing options and a solid warranty.
Backyard Discovery Mount McKinley Cedar Swing Set
The Mount McKinley Cedar Swing Set shares the cedar material and 5-year warranty of the Woodland but has a different configuration. It measures 150 inches wide and 119 inches high, making it narrower and slightly shorter than the Woodland’s 200 by 136 inches. This model includes a raised deck and sandbox, features not present in the Woodland’s standard spec list. You trade the wave slide and rock wall for a multi-level deck structure. This alternative fits buyers who prefer elevated deck play and sand activities over a dedicated slide and climbing wall. It is a solid choice for large yards seeking a different play dynamic.
Backyard Discovery Canyon Creek Cedar Playset
The Canyon Creek Cedar Playset is a substantial unit measuring 183 inches wide and 119 inches high. It is narrower than the Woodland’s 200-inch width but offers a similar height profile. Both are cedar structures designed for spacious yards. The Canyon Creek includes diverse climbing and sliding features but does not list a snack bar station or the specific 10-foot wave slide of the Woodland. You get a robust play center with natural wood construction but a different feature mix. This model is ideal for families who want a large cedar playset with varied activities but do not require the specific snack bar and bench configuration of the original Woodland set.
Sportspower Cedar Wooden Playset with Saucer Swing
The Sportspower Cedar Wooden Playset is a distinct alternative for smaller spaces. It measures 107 inches wide and 98 inches high, significantly smaller than the Woodland’s 200 by 136 inches. Both use cedar wood, but the Sportspower model is designed for young children in small yards. It includes a saucer swing and a warranted slide, replacing the Woodland’s wave slide, trapeze, and rock wall. You give up extensive climbing features and elevated play structures for a compact, stable unit. This pick suits families with limited yard space who need a durable, high-capacity playset for younger kids rather than a large, multi-feature adventure center.
Backyard Discovery Sterling Point Cedar Swing Set
The Sterling Point Cedar Swing Set is the largest option in this comparison. It measures 246 inches wide and 130 inches high, offering more width than the Woodland’s 200 inches but slightly less height. Both are cedar structures with a 5-year warranty. The Sterling Point features a raised clubhouse and diverse climbing features but lacks the specific snack bar station and 10-foot wave slide of the Woodland. You gain a more expansive play area and additional climbing options but lose the specific café-style seating and slide configuration. This model is best for buyers with ample space who want a substantial cedar structure with extensive climbing and elevated play zones.
