6 Best Alternatives to the Backyard Discovery Mount Mckinley Cedar Wood Swing Set (2026)

How these options compare to the Mount McKinley

Backyard Discovery Atlantis Cedar Swing Set

The Backyard Discovery Atlantis Cedar Swing Set extends further, measuring 217 inches in length compared to the Mount McKinley’s 186 inches. This extra length accommodates a larger footprint, making it suitable for spacious backyards. It shares the cedar construction and includes an eight-foot slide, similar to the original. However, the Atlantis is narrower at 93.5 inches wide versus 150 inches, which changes the yard layout requirements. It offers three swinging stations, providing balanced play for multiple children. If you need more linear space for activities like running or additional slide length, this model fits that need while maintaining the durable cedar material.

JOYLDIAS 20 ft Cedar Swing Set with Double Slides

The JOYLDIAS 20 ft Cedar Swing Set distinguishes itself with dual slides, whereas the Mount McKinley features only one eight-foot wave slide. Both use cedar wood, but the JOYLDIAS model has a significantly larger 20-foot footprint. This extra size supports three swing stations and varied ground-level play activities, offering more simultaneous play options. The dual-slide feature allows for faster turnover and more fun for groups. It is ideal for large yards where space is not a constraint. If you prioritize having two slides and a wider play area over the compact climbing features of the Mount McKinley, this alternative provides greater activity variety within a larger cedar framework.

SunSwell 11x14 ft Playset with Monkey Bars

The SunSwell 11x14 ft Playset shifts focus from climbing to imaginative play, featuring cafe elements and monkey bars. It measures 180 inches wide and 136 inches long, offering a different spatial profile than the Mount McKinley’s 150 by 186 inches. This model includes a slide with a 400-pound capacity, highlighting structural robustness. It uses cedar wood but emphasizes pretend play stations alongside active swinging. If you want a versatile activity center that combines physical movement with creative play, this option serves that purpose. It gives up the extensive rock climbing walls of the original in favor of monkey bars and thematic play areas, suiting households seeking diverse engagement styles.

SunSwell 11x11 Wooden Swing Set

The SunSwell 11x11 Wooden Swing Set uses fir wood instead of cedar, offering a different material profile. It stands taller at 144 inches compared to the Mount McKinley’s 119 inches, providing a more elevated play deck. The footprint is square at 135 inches by 135 inches, contrasting with the rectangular shape of the original. It includes a seven-foot slide and two swings, simplifying the activity mix. This compact design suits square yards where the longer Mount McKinley would not fit well. If you need a taller deck in a smaller area and do not require cedar wood, this fir-lumber alternative delivers essential playground features with a distinct vertical emphasis and efficient use of space.

Backyard Discovery Canyon Creek Cedar Playset

The Backyard Discovery Canyon Creek Cedar Playset expands the play area significantly, measuring 188 inches long and 183 inches wide. It includes a raised clubhouse and kitchen area, adding social play spaces not found on the Mount McKinley. Like the original, it uses cedar wood and offers three swinging stations. The Canyon Creek is heavier at 387 pounds, indicating a substantial build. It is designed for large yards that can accommodate its expansive footprint. If you want a more extensive multi-activity center with dedicated social zones like a kitchen, this model provides those features. It sacrifices the specific rock climbing and rope ladder setup of the Mount McKinley for broader clubhouse-style play.

Backyard Discovery Beach Front Cedar Swing Set

The Backyard Discovery Beach Front Cedar Swing Set includes a sandbox area, offering sensory play that the Mount McKinley lacks. It measures 173 inches wide and 169 inches long, providing a wide, compact footprint compared to the longer Mount McKinley. Both use cedar wood and feature elevated decks. The Beach Front model prioritizes natural materials and extensive play features, including a sandbox and deck. It is suitable for large yards seeking a comprehensive play area. If you value integrated sensory play in the form of a sandbox alongside traditional swinging and climbing, this alternative offers that combination. It gives up the specific double rock wall and rope ladder setup for a broader, ground-level interactive experience.
