Agitree vs Best Choice Products Sandbox
Material durability
The Agitree sandbox is built from fir wood, which is treated with environmentally friendly water-based paint and heat-treated to resist weather and corrosion. The surface is smooth to prevent splinters. The Best Choice Products model uses cedar wood, which is naturally durable and also heat-treated to retain shape and strength over time. Cedar is often preferred for outdoor furniture due to its natural resistance to decay. Both materials are suitable for outdoor play, but the specific wood type may affect long-term maintenance and appearance as the units age in different climates.
Cover and shade
Agitree includes a 360-degree UV-protection canopy that is height-adjustable and rotates to follow the sun. This provides shade for children while they play and can be lowered to keep out rain and debris. Best Choice Products does not list a canopy in its specifications. Instead, it offers a split cover made from the folding bench panels to prevent moisture buildup and keep debris out. If you need active shade from the sun, the Agitree canopy is a significant advantage. If you only need a lid to protect the sand from rain and leaves, the Best Choice Products design is sufficient.
Weight capacity
Both sandboxes feature two built-in benches that double as cover panels. The Agitree benches have a weight capacity of 200 pounds each. The Best Choice Products benches support up to 220 pounds each. This 20-pound difference per bench means the Best Choice Products unit can safely hold slightly heavier adults or older children. Both designs allow multiple kids to sit and play simultaneously. The reinforced backrests on the Best Choice Products model are noted for preventing children from falling backward, adding a layer of safety for younger users.
Assembled dimensions
The Agitree sandbox measures approximately 47.2 inches by 47.6 inches with a height of 46.5 inches, largely due to the canopy structure. The Best Choice Products sandbox measures 49 inches by 47.3 inches with a height of only 8.5 inches. The Best Choice Products unit is significantly lower to the ground, which may be easier for younger children to access. The Agitree model is taller because of the canopy frame. Both have a similar footprint for the sand area, so they will fit in comparable backyard spaces. The height difference is the main physical distinction between the two.
Weight and portability
The Agitree sandbox weighs 47 pounds, while the Best Choice Products version weighs 32.5 pounds. The lighter weight of the Best Choice Products model makes it easier to move or reposition if needed. The Agitree unit is heavier, likely due to the additional canopy hardware and fir wood construction. Both units are substantial enough to remain stable during play. If you plan to move the sandbox frequently or have limited strength for assembly and relocation, the lighter Best Choice Products option is more practical. The heavier Agitree unit may be more stable in windy conditions.
Which sandbox fits your needs
Parents needing sun and rain protection
The Agitree unit includes a 360-degree UV-protection canopy that adjusts in height. This feature blocks harsh summer rays and rain, keeping playtime cool and dry. You can rotate the canopy to follow the sun for all-day shade. When not in use, lowering it prevents leaves and animals from entering the sandbox, offering superior environmental protection compared to the open design of the other model.
Buyers prioritizing lightweight construction and color options
The Best Choice Products sandbox weighs 32.5 pounds, making it lighter than the Agitree model at 47 pounds. It offers seven color variations, including Brown, Espresso, and Sage, allowing you to match your outdoor decor. The cedar wood is heat-treated for durability, and the split cover design helps prevent moisture buildup while keeping debris out of the sand area.
Users seeking integrated toy storage
The Agitree sandbox features a bench with a dedicated storage compartment. This space holds various beach toys, preventing them from scattering around the yard. The other model provides seating but lacks this specific internal storage feature. If you want to keep play accessories organized and hidden under the seat, this design element provides practical convenience for daily use and cleanup.
