The Agitree Large Wooden Sandbox Kids Alternatives list helps you find similar playsets when the original does not meet your specific needs. This 47-inch cedar model offers sturdy bench seats and built-in storage compartments. It measures 47 by 47 by 7.5 inches and weighs 32 pounds. You might look elsewhere if you need a canopy for shade or a different material like HDPE plastic. Some buyers prefer a pirate ship shape or a larger footprint for more play space. Others may want a lighter weight option or a different color scheme for their backyard.
The 6 alternatives on this page were chosen because their specifications overlap with the Agitree original. Each option provides comparable dimensions or similar seating features. You can compare material types, weight limits, and included components like covers or liners. This list includes cedar wood, plastic, and themed designs. You will see options with canopies, removable liners, and varying sand capacities. Review the specs to match the exact size and feature set you require for your outdoor play area.
Our top pick: Agitree 47-Inch Cedar Sandbox with Bench Seats.
How each alternative compares
Best Choice Products 47-Inch Cedar Sandbox with Benches
The Best Choice Products model matches the Agitree’s 47-inch footprint and cedar material but adds slightly more height at 8.5 inches. It includes integrated benches for shared seating, similar to the original. The primary difference is the cover design, which converts rather than folding flat. This option suits families who want sturdy wood construction and seating but prefer a versatile cover mechanism. It offers comparable durability without the deep storage compartments found under the Agitree seats. Choose this if you prioritize convertible shading over hidden toy storage.
Agitree 47" Wooden Sandbox with Canopy
This Agitree variant swaps the foldable sand cover for a permanent canopy structure. It maintains the 47-inch square footprint and includes bench seating, but adds significant height to support the shade structure. The canopy provides continuous UV protection, whereas the original relies on a removable cover. This model weighs more due to the added frame. It is ideal for buyers who want permanent shading and integrated seating but do not need the specific rain-cover storage benefits of the original. Pick this if shade coverage is your main priority.
Costzon 47-Inch HDPE Sandbox with Cover
The Costzon option diverges significantly by using HDPE plastic instead of cedar wood. It offers a 47-inch square base with greater depth at 10.5 inches, allowing for more sand capacity. The plastic construction requires less maintenance than wood and resists rotting naturally. It includes a protective cover but lacks the integrated bench seating and storage compartments of the Agitree. This choice fits buyers who want easy cleaning and drainage over the traditional aesthetic and seating features of cedar. Select this if low maintenance is your primary concern.
ZAVEROX 62.25 in Cedar Pirate Ship Sandbox
The ZAVEROX model features a pirate ship shape rather than a standard square. It uses cedar wood and includes integrated benches, similar to the original. However, its dimensions are larger and more complex, measuring 62.25 by 30.75 inches. This design offers themed play and built-in storage, appealing to children who enjoy imaginative scenarios. It sacrifices the compact square footprint for a unique structure. Choose this if you want a themed aesthetic and integrated seating but can accommodate a larger, non-standard shape in your yard.
Mederra 46.5" Cedar Sandbox with Canopy
The Mederra sandbox combines cedar construction with a retractable canopy, offering a middle ground between the original and the canopy-only models. It measures 46.5 inches square, slightly smaller than the Agitree. It includes bench seating and provides versatile weather protection through its canopy. This model is suited for compact play areas where space is limited. It gives up the large foldable cover of the original for a more permanent shade solution. Pick this if you want cedar durability and integrated seating in a space-saving design.
Agitree 47" Wooden Sandbox with Canopy
This Agitree model is another canopy-equipped version, similar to the third item but with a brown color scheme. It maintains the 47-inch square size and includes bench seating for shared play. The canopy provides consistent shade, differing from the original’s foldable rain cover. It is designed for families who value weather protection and organized play spaces. This option is best for those who prefer permanent shading over removable covers. Choose this if you want the Agitree brand reliability with a focus on shaded play rather than sand protection.

Frequently asked questions
What materials are these 47-inch sandboxes made from?
Most options use cedar wood for durability and natural resistance to rot. The Costzon model uses HDPE plastic, which offers a low-maintenance alternative. Cedar provides a traditional aesthetic, while plastic requires less upkeep and drains well. You can choose based on whether you prefer the look of wood or the ease of cleaning plastic.
Do these sandboxes include bench seating for adults?
Yes, most models feature integrated benches around the perimeter. The Agitree, Best Choice Products, and ZAVEROX units all include sturdy seating for shared play. The Costzon HDPE model does not list benches in its specifications. Benches allow caregivers to sit comfortably while supervising children during play sessions.
Which options provide shade or a canopy?
Three models include canopies for weather protection. The Agitree 47-inch Wooden Sandbox with Canopy and the Mederra 46.5-inch Cedar Sandbox both offer retractable or fixed covers. These features help block sun and keep debris out. The standard Agitree and Best Choice Products models do not include canopies in their specifications.
How much weight can the bench seats support?
The Agitree 47-Inch Cedar Sandbox is noted for high-weight bench seats suitable for shared play. While exact weight limits are not listed, the cedar construction is designed for durability. The ZAVEROX pirate ship also includes integrated seating. You should assume these benches are built for adult supervision rather than heavy recreational use.
Are there themed designs available besides square boxes?
Yes, the ZAVEROX 62.25-inch Cedar Pirate Ship Sandbox offers a themed design. It measures 62.25 by 30.75 by 18 inches, providing a larger footprint than standard squares. This option fits families who value imaginative play features. Other models maintain a traditional square or rectangular shape for compact play areas.
What is the weight of these sandboxes?
Weights vary by material and size. The Agitree cedar model weighs 32 pounds, while the Best Choice Products version weighs 32.5 pounds. The Agitree canopy model is heavier at 47 pounds due to its additional structure. The Costzon plastic model does not list a weight. Heavier units offer more stability but are harder to move.
Do these sandboxes have storage compartments?
Several models include built-in storage for toys and tools. The Agitree 47-Inch Cedar Sandbox and the ZAVEROX pirate ship both feature storage compartments. The Agitree canopy model also emphasizes storage for organized play. Storage helps keep the play area tidy and protects toys from weather when not in use.
